Central North American News: Reporting on the Region Betwixt Canada and Mexico (Common Sennis, 2023)
In the tradition of Mark Twain, Monty Python and The Onion comes a hysterically funny collection of faux news articles and editorials from Central North American News, the only news source to focus specifically on the region betwixt Canada and Mexico. Mercilessly and mirthfully penning punches against the greedy, exploitative and hateful in articles such as "New Hershey's Gropes Celebrate President-Elect" and "Benefit for Endangered Male Ego Announced" while spinning delightfully absurd tales of everyday "Central North Americans" in articles like "Man Can't Eat Just One Canned Green Bean" and "Librarian Downright Whimsical," Daniel Sennis has written the definitive history of the last decade in the previously unknown land situated above Mexico but below Canada.
O Conman! My Conman! Sick Rhymes for Sick Times is the freshest poetry collection since Emily Dickinson's Collected Poems went through the poet's wash. From poems about Kinkos, mom jeans and foggy glasses to "dis track" poems about Romeo, commencement speakers and the Child-Left-Behind in Chief, this "work of genius" (Dan's Mom Review) is rife with puckishness, passion for justice and poetic prowess. For the past ten years, rather than work on his career or try to find a home that was not above a hair salon, Daniel Sennis has meticulously crafted poems like "Accordeus: Legend of I-95," "Summer is Gross" and "The Mostly Polite Sub Who Shot out of the Classroom Like a Rocket." And all for you, lucky reader (and to momentarily escape the demons in Daniel's head!). This collection will entertain, inspire, provoke and dazzle--or, at the very least, stabilize wobbly furniture. Get it right now dummy!
This book, a collection of essays, fictional news stories and poems from my blog, examines life in 21st century America. Life today in America gives a satirist plenty of good material. With all of the political, religious and corporate arrogance and corruption; the destruction of the planet; media and entertainment written by and for lower primates; gun nuts; military misadventures; and Donald Trump-there's so much stupidity and evil from which to choose! Like the Golden Corral, there is so much choice and all of it is disgusting. The hope is that this kind of writing will raise consciousness of what we, as a nation, are doing wrong, so that we are then moved to do something about it. The hope is also that this kind of writing makes me extremely rich and famous.
I liked everything about it except the writing-Oprah

"I wrote some sick rhymes (more like BAM!let), but I am plagued by jealousy for this collection of poems. How sharper than a serpent's tooth is an ungrateful betting clerk with a pen. Consider The Bard a #merchantofsennis."
